Girls Soccer Wins First Round of Sectionals

Oldenburg Academy 8 – 0 Milan

It is great to have the team back together with good health.  It makes a difference.  It takes 19 to make this work.
Coach Reed would like to say, “Congratulations!  Your first sectional game was the best one yet of the season.  Dominating start followed by composed methodical team play.  Drops, switching field, diagonal play and great crosses all came together to create dynamic scoring opportunities and finishes like we have not seen in awhile.  Defense again shut down an offense that did a great job of playing the line (wide).  The wings dropped back to help cover our three center back defense.  We played a 3-5-2 for those technically inclined.  3 defenders, 5 midfielders, 2 forwards.  We have such strong defenders and hard working wings that make this formation work.  It allows us to put more offense up top to create overloads and scoring opportunities.  It worked.  After further review it was amazing how well the wings and mids kept filling in the gaps in the defense either when a center back went out wide or if a defender moved up the field.  This is very technical play and you executed it brilliantly.  We are peaking at the right time.”
Lets keep doing the same the rest of this week and hang another of many more banners on the wall for girls soccer and OA!
