Multiple Teams · OA Baseball Downs Greenwood Christian 6-1

On a deceivingly cold day, the Twisters were able to heat up their bats, while the Cougars of Greenwood Christian never were able to do the same.

Junior pitcher Cory Schumann pitched the full 7 innings for the complete game for the Twisters, as GCA wasn’t able to mount many scoring opportunities throughout the ballgame.

After staking to an early 3-1 lead, OA mounted a 2 out rally in the bottom of the 4th to get some breathing room, adding 3 more runs in the inning.

The 7th saw some fine defensive plays, as sophomore second baseman Nick Bischoff recorded the first out after ranging far to his right to cut off a ground ball up the middle before firing to first to beat the runner by a step. The second out of the inning came when GCA pinch hitter smacked a line drive to the foul line side of third, only to have senior Josh Kinker lung to his right to snag it out of the air. Schuman recorded the final out on a pop up.

The 3-3 Twisters will be in action again today, Wednesday, April 23rd at Liberty Park, taking on the Chargers of North Decatur. First pitch is set for 5PM.
