Oldenburg Academy Twisters Volleyball traveled to Milan on Thursday for Varsity, JV, and modified Freshman matches. OA Varsity fell in 3 sets to the Indians, 17-25, 15-25, and 17-25. Elizabeth Fiutem continued her strong season leading the offense with her setting and serving, tallying 43 attempts, 7 assists with only 1 ball handling error while scoring 10 points on 15 serves including 3 aces. She added 5 digs with no errors on defense. Audrey Oesterling and Hanna Moul carried the load on serve receive and defense with 19 and 17 receptions and 5 digs each, respectively. Moul led all OA hitters with 13 attempts, while Oesterling and Samantha Nobbe contributed 11 attempts each and Maggie Bruns 10 swings.
The Twisters JV won the JV contest 2-1 by the scores of 25-21, 16-25, and 15-6. This was the 4th 3-set match in the last 5 matches for the squad. Hanna Hurm handled the bulk of the setting duties with 27 attempts, 7 assists, and 1 error with 4 aces on 13 serving attempts. The Twisters serving was led by Abbi Eldridge and Alex Bamonte with 15 and 13 attempts with 4 and 9 aces, respectively, while recording 11 points each. Sydney Bauman and Lydia Gigrich were the top attackers with Bauman providing 5 kills on 10 attempts while Gigrich had 4 kills on 9 attempts. “ The girls played well. Alex had a season best performance from the serving line which sealed the win in the deciding set. This was a big step forward for this group to learn how to remain strong and finish a match. With the win, OA JV moves its record to 3-9.
